SAUSAGE WEEK IS HERE…!

Banger Celebration from 4 – 10 November 2013

The sixteenth annual British Sausage Week is here!

The seven-days of sausage appreciation will run from 4 to 10 November 2013, providing pubs, restaurants and canteens with opportunities to benefit from increased sales.

Having enjoyed an overwhelmingly successful Framlingham SausageFest earlier this month the busy Market Town in Suffolk just can’t leave a good sausage alone. The winners of this year’s Festival, Hall Farm Butchers who are located in the centre of the town, are donating a string of their prize winning Autumn Gold sausages to the local business centre, Framlingham Technology Centre, for a charity fund raising ‘Sizzling Sausage Wednesday’. In celebration of British Sausage Week tenants can enjoy a sausage bap with all the proceeds going to The Country Trust – a charity with its main office in Framlingham that specialises in broadening the horizons of urban youngsters by giving them educational days in the countryside which include farm visits to learn all about British pork amongst other topics.

Raising awareness of quality assured sausages, such as Red Tractor, British Sausage Week is one of the highlights of the culinary calendar. This year’s activity includes a combination of high profile PR campaign, the prestigious ‘BPEX Foodservice Sausage of the Year competition’ and point-of-sale promotional material; to ensure everyone in the sector has an opportunity to get involved.

Tony Goodger, BPEX’s foodservice trade manager, said: “Sausages are undeniably a huge hit with diners. Latest figures show that they are dished up at more than half a billion meal occasions annually, accounting for 1 in 5 of all red meat servings out of the home (source: NPD Crest, June 2012). No other food elicits quite as much affection, making British Sausage Week truly an event not to be missed.
