Picturesque Framlingham boasts its famous Castle, the idyllic market square and prestigious Framlingham College. But what you might not know is that it also home to one of the UK’s leading cloud telecoms companies.

Tucked away just off Station Road, X-on has supplied telecoms solutions to some of the most well-known brands in the world, including HSBC, Buckingham Palace, Kelloggs, BT, Hallmark and the NHS, as well as the East of England Ambulance Service.

The thought of telecoms may make you think of huge call centres outsourced overseas, but despite boasting offices in Australia and customers all over the world, X-on’s success is firmly built upon Suffolk roots.

Company Director, Lesley Bensley, plays an influential role in the local community as a Parish Council member and a leader of Marlesford Youth Club, in addition to an active role in county politics.

Furthermore, the majority of X-on’s dedicated workforce live in Framlingham, Woodbridge and surrounding villages, many of whom walk or cycle to the Technology Centre, which houses its headquarters. Among them are volunteers in local councils and clubs, members of village sports teams and former students of the area’s schools.

Managing Director Paul Bensley is proud of X-on’s ties to Suffolk, and the strong affinity to the local area that runs right through the company, which has called Framlingham home since 2000.

“As demand in cloud technology and increased business efficiency continues to grow, we have already taken on four new members of staff in 2013 alone, all of whom live locally. We have also supported the annual Thomas Mills High School student work experience scheme for a number of years.”

“We may have clients operating at far corners of the globe, but we are always on the lookout for opportunities to support the local community, and consequently the economy, in whatever way we can.”

X-on specialises in the cloud telecoms environment and increased flexibility, designed to reduce business telecommunications and maintenance costs.

Next time you pass the Technology Centre, see if you can catch a glimpse of Framlingham’s best kept secret.
